Cost of Living: Advice for businesses

Energy Bills

We have produced a Business Energy Price Comparison Tool to allow businesses, charities and organisations to compare electricity and gas business tariffs available in Northern Ireland. By using the tool you may be able to find a better rate for your electricity and gas.

Click here to use our free, independent, Business Energy Price Comparison Tool

If you want to know more about energy for your business, you can download our ‘Switch On’ guide for small businesses. The guide covers bills and tariffs, contracts, energy efficiency, making a complaint and more.

You can download a copy by clicking here.

This was produced in 2019 and will be updated in due course. Further up-to-date information can be found on our Energy web page for businesses by clicking here

Water Bills

We offer businesses a free Water Bill Health Check to provide you with a simple breakdown and explanation of your water bill. It will ensure that you are being billed correctly and will help identify opportunities for you to save money on your water bills. If appropriate for your circumstance, we will also provide some water efficiency advice.

For your free Water Bill Health Check please send an email request to contact@consumercouncil.org.uk or call 0800 121 6022.

Some recent examples of savings made:

  • A licensed premises reduced their water bill by £1,200 a year by making a simple water efficiency change.
  • A solicitor's office had their water bill reduced from £885 a year to £140 a year by changing the way they are billed.
  • A chip shop had their water bill reduced by £500 a year and got a rebate of £3,000 by claiming an allowance they were unaware of.

We also have a Water Guide for businesses and not-for-profit organisations. Click here to access the Water Guide for Businesses
