Bank customers are getting unfair charges refunded at a rate of £1,000 a day through the Consumer Council’s Stop Unfair Charges campaign. Today the Consumer Council announced it has helped consumers gain over £100,000 in refunds, a figure they believe is only the tip of the iceberg of an estimated £11 million .

The Consumer Council welcomes Ofcom’s announcement of an industry wide review of charges imposed by providers of landlines, mobiles, broadband and pay TV. The Consumer Council stressed that this review must be robust and ensures that the most vulnerable in our society are not forced to pay more. Ofcom must not allow unfair charges to be hidden elsewhere in customer bills.
