The Consumer Council today called on Tesco and Sainsbury’s to scrap their local pricing policy that charges some of their customers more for petrol depending on where they live. The demand came as the Consumer Council released the findings of a snapshot supermarket petrol pricing survey that showed Tesco and Sainsbury’s are charging consumers more in places like Ballymena and Belfast than in Bangor or Coleraine at a time when they are telling all consumers that they are doing everything to help them save money during hard times.
