As the UK Government announced that credit union rules in Great Britain (GB) will be updated to make it easier for consumers to get affordable credit, the Consumer Council today called for the Enterprise, Trade and Investment Committee to consider the inclusion of these key developments in its Inquiry into the Role and Potential of Credit Unions. The Consumer Council wants to ensure that credit unions here are not allowed to lag further behind the rest of the UK in the powers they have to meet the needs of their existing and new customers.
