As Translink announces above inflation fare increases on Northern Ireland Railways, Ulsterbus and Metro today, the Consumer Council welcomed the fact that the price of most day tickets, Metro multi-journey tickets and weekly and monthly rail tickets will stay the same and urged passengers to avail of these tickets to beat the fare increases. Some Ulsterbus passengers will lose out as the price of most multi-journey tickets will rise by nearly twice the rate of inflation, despite the fact that Ulsterbus missed its last punctuality and reliabity targets.

Antrim Grammar School emerged the winners of the 2008 Young Consumers Competition (YCC) in what can only be described as a nail biting affair. The YCC final was held in Lisburn on Friday 29 February at the Lagan Valley Island Centre and was hosted by UTV and U105 personality Frank Mitchell.
