Best Foot Forward for local podiatry practice as it gets back over £2,000 on its water bill

Local business, Happy Feet, has had its water bill reduced by 65% following an investigation by The Consumer Council. It found that the small business had not been claiming their domestic allowance and had been incorrectly billed by NI Water for a number of years.

The Consumer Council discovered that Happy Feet was being overcharged due to a miscalculation of its supply pipe size. The business’s water bill has now been reduced from £430 a year to £149 a year, a reduction of 65% and the owner received a refund of over £2000.

Speaking about the result, Gerardette McGivern of Happy Feet said, “With the help of The Consumer Council I was overwhelmed to find out that I had been overcharged for so long. I would never have thought about checking my water bill without the help of The Consumer Council. The process was straightforward and simple, and I would recommend any business to request a Water Bill Health Check to ensure you are being charged correctly.”

Graham Smith, Head of Water at The Consumer Council added, “We are delighted that Happy Feet received a refund and its case has come to a successful end.
