My business was over-charged for electricity and I could not get a refund from the supplier

A shop in Belfast found out that their electricity meter had been over-recording at a rate of 55% from June 2017 to March 2019. This was confirmed by NIE Networks. 

During this period they had two different electricity suppliers. NIE Networks issued revised readings to the two suppliers. However, one of the suppliers refused to fully refund the business as it fell outside of their settlement period. 

The business got in touch with us for advice. 

Action

We pushed the supplier to refund the business in line with the Limitations (NI) Order 1989. 

Resolution

The energy company has agreed to refund the business. A settlement figure was issued for the sum of £27,054.79
