I'd to stay in Alicante an extra two nights

A consumer was informed that their easyJet flight from Alicante to Belfast was cancelled when he was at the airport. There was no airline staff available at the airport to assist the consumer in booking another flight home. They had to stay in Alicante an extra two days incurring additional accommodation and food costs.

The consumer submitted a compensation claim but this was refused by easyJet, which prompted the consumer to contact the Consumer Council for help.

Action

The Consumer Council raised a formal investigation with the airline.

Resolution

easyJet confirmed that compensation was payable and the consumer received €400 as well as their expenses paid.
