Antoinette McKeown, newly appointed Chief Executive at the Consumer Council took up her post today (Monday 6 July). Antoinette joins the Consumer Council from the Equality Commission where she spent 8 years as Head of Policy and Development.

Antoinette takes over the position from Donna Magee who acted as Interim Chief Executive following the departure of Eleanor Gill.

Chairman at the Consumer Council Rick Hill said: “The Board is delighted to welcome Antoinette as the Consumer Council’s new Chief Executive. Her previous roles with the Equality Commission and PlayBoard have equipped Antoinette with a strong portfolio of skills which she will bring to bear in furthering the mission of the Consumer Council.”

Rick Hill also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Board to Donna Magee, who he said had done a tremendous job as Interim Chief Executive since April.

Speaking about her appointment Antoinette McKeown added: “I very much look forward to the challenges ahead in these particularly difficult and uncertain economic times for consumers. I am thrilled to join such a highly skilled team and to lead them in representing consumers and protecting their interests to the very best of our ability.”
