Disappointment for consumers as SSE Airtricity increases its electricity prices by 3.9%

SSE Airtricity has today (Friday 29 January 2021) announced it will be increasing electricity prices by 3.9% from 1 March 2021. This will see the typical SSE Airtricity customer needing to find up to an extra £22 per year.

Michael Legg, Head of Energy Policy at The Consumer Council, said: “This news will come as a disappointment to all SSE Airtricity electricity consumers especially during a time when many are experiencing increasing pressures on their household budgets.

“Any consumers who are experiencing financial difficulty and are struggling with their energy bills should contact their supplier without delay to talk about how they can help you during these times.

“We also encourage all consumers to shop around to ensure they are on the best energy deal. To support consumers in the switching process, our website has an independent energy price comparison tool for households and small businesses. In the last year, over 67,000 consumers have used this tool to help them get the best deal.”
