Money week is Northern Ireland's first ever programme of events aimed at educating consumers on how to manage their money wisely. Coleraine is playing host to this brand new initiative brought to you by the Consumer Council in association with Coleraine Borough Council. Money week is a series of events organised by the Northern Ireland Financial Capability Partnership.
Are you a Phoenix Supply Limited (PSL) customer?
A 19.2 per cent gas price increase comes into effect from 1 October 2008. The Consumer Council is urging all PSL customers to take a meter reading to ensure that their gas bills are based on an accurate reading, not an estimated one.
For peace of mind, we recommend that Phoenix customers do the following:
1. Read your meter today and take a note of it.
2. Contact phoenix supply ltd with the reading on 0845 900 5253 or email it to info@phoenixsupplyni.com.
3. Keep hold of the meter reading and check it against your bill when it arrives.

The Consumer Council, in partnership with CCEA, is organising three conferences for A - Level Home Economics teachers in March 2009 to help teachers prepare for the consumer issues content of the revised Home Economics curriculum.

Check out the winners of this year's Schools Poster Competition
Budding young artists from all over Northern Ireland took the honours at this year’s Consumer Council Schools Poster Competition Awards Ceremony. Maurice Jay from U105’s Breakfast Show presented the prizes at the event at Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn on 13 June.
More than 4,000 children from primary and special schools across Northern Ireland submitted posters based on the themes: Don’t waste energy, Count the ways to get to school, How far does my food travel?, Don’t waste water, What can we make out of rubbish? and Spend a little, save a little.Tell us how the cost of living is affecting you 0800 121 6022 info@consumercouncil.org.uk
The Consumer Council is calling on consumers to tell their real-life stories about the household pressures they are facing. Rather than waiting until things get any worse, the Consumer Council is bringing consumers together to get a first-hand account of their experiences beginning with two open meetings this week in the Holiday Inn, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast on Wednesday, 27 August 2008 at 7.00pm and in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown on Thursday, 28 August 2008 at 7.00pm.
