<p>The Consumer Council has welcomed the announcement by Northern Ireland Energy Holdings (NIEH) of a £12.4 million contribution to offset electricity costs.</p>

<p>The Consumer Council has today issued the findings of its recent “Metro Challenge” that saw a team of MLAs and volunteers take to the buses to test the Metro bus service in Belfast. While the Metro seems to be working well for some passengers, reliability and punctuality problems remain on many journeys.</p>
<p>As the Metro bus service celebrates its first birthday today, the Consumer Council along with MLAs and a team of volunteers will take to the buses for the first ever “Metro Challenge” to test all 12 routes for reliability, accessibility, convenience and value for money.</p>
