- Take Hold Of The Reins This Christmas
1 December 2008The Consumer Council today launched its 2008 Christmas card entitled - ‘Take hold of the reins this Christmas’ - with twelve money saving tips to help consumers take control of their festive spending. The card is the latest edition to the Consumer Council’s Smart Shopper series designed to give consumers the information and skills they need to make their money go further.
- Consumer Council Urges Swift Conclusion Of Electricity Price Review This Winter
24 November 2008The Consumer Council today welcomed the Utility Regulator’s decision to review electricity prices this winter and its commitment to ensure that falling wholesale energy costs are reflected in lower bills for consumers as quickly as possible.

20 November 2008Eleanor Gill, Chief Executive of the Consumer Council said: “The Consumer Council welcomed today’s statement from the Northern Ireland (NI) Executive that water charges are to be deferred for one year. This is a clear sign that the NI Executive is in touch with and listening to the concerns of consumers as they struggle to manage the cost of household bills. Consumers here will greet this news with a huge sigh of relief and recognition that devolution works for consumers.

20 November 2008You can make your money work for you, is the message from the Consumer Council as they launch Northern Ireland’s first ever Money Week in association with Coleraine Borough Council. Consumer Council research shows that consumers here are bottom of the UK league when it comes to managing our money . Money Week is a series of events designed to help people develop the skills and confidence to manage their money, budget wisely, save for a rainy day and know where to get help if they’re worried about money.
