The Consumer Council Seeks Views From Air Passengers With Mobility Issues

Friday 8 June 2012

Ahead of EU Air Passenger Rights Day (4 July), the Consumer Council has launched an online survey, ‘Air Passengers Rights’, to examine consumers’ knowledge of their rights when travelling by air if they are passengers with a disability or reduced mobility. The results of the survey will allow the Consumer Council to assess the level of awareness amongst passengers of their rights under the Access to Air Travel Regulations, the European law that has been in force for four years.

Antoinette McKeown, CEO of the Consumer Council said, “The regulations affecting those with a disability or mobility issues requiring additional assistance when flying could potentially affect anyone. Reduced mobility could be due to age, an illness or temporary injury and given that almost two out of five (37 per cent)

households here include at least one person with a disabilityit is important that consumers are aware of their rights when travelling by air.”

The Consumer Council will also be available on Wednesday 4 July at George Best Belfast City Airport to provide further advice and information to all passengers about their rights when travelling by air.

The online survey can be accessed at www.consumercouncil.org.ukor by calling 0800 121 6022. The deadline for completing the survey is Wednesday 27 June 2012.  http://www.123contactform.com/form-329983/Air-Passenger-Rights.
