Tell Us Your Biggest Difficulty When It Comes To Managing Money

Wednesday 24 February 2010

The Financial Capability Partnership NI (the Partnership) has launched a poll to discover the biggest problems local Fermanagh people are experiencing when it comes to managing money.

The Partnership has been out and about on the streets of Enniskillen to find out how the recession is affecting local people and what they are doing to manage their money.

The views of local people are being sought ahead of ‘Money Week’ which the Financial Capability Partnership is running in Fermanagh from 6 – 12 March, to help people budget effectively, save for a rainy day and discover where to get help with money worries.

Julie McCurley, Head of Money Affairs at the Consumer Council explains: “Asking people for their views will help us to ensure that this week long initiative delivers the most useful and appropriate information that meets the needs of local people. The responses will also be used during the launch event to help inform the Partnership, Government and our local representatives about the key issues affecting local people.”

Fermanagh people can make their voice heard by e-mailing info@consumercouncil.org.uk or writing to: The Consumer Council, 116 Holywood Road, Belfast, BT4 1NY.  People can also get in touch via facebook - Consumer Council Northern Ireland, or via twitter - @ConsumerCouncil.

“We’re also looking forward to seeing as many people as possible at our special Money Market in the Diamond, on 6 March between 10am and 3pm,” added Julie. “At the Money Market, people will have the opportunity to speak directly to the educational bodies, community groups, banks, buildings societies and credit unions that make up the Financial Capability Partnership and get specialist information and resources to help them to manage their money.

“Consumers can also attend some of the clinics, seminars, workshops and presentations that will take place across Fermanagh during Money Week”

Further details of the various Money Week events are available at www.consumercouncil.org.uk or by phoning Olga McGonagle on 028 9067 2488.
