Don’t Let Debt Take Control

Tuesday 15 November 2005

Do you struggle to make ends meet every month? Do you depend on your overdraft to see you through? If so, the East Belfast Independent Advice Centre’s latest publication Are You Worried about Money? launched today, can help.

Are You Worried About Money? provides practical help for people struggling to regain control of their finances.  It offers advice on paying back credit, arranging overdrafts, budgeting and how to recognise and pay back priority debts.

Karen White, Money Advice Trainer at East Belfast Independent Advice Centre said: “Too many people let debt take over their life before they look for help.  This booklet encourages consumers to take control early.  It offers practical steps and advice that can help stop spiralling debt.”

Carol Edwards, Head of Education at the Consumer Council said: “We are happy to be supporting this important publication.  The information and advice it provides is crucial, especially at this time of year when people can be prone to mounting credit and debt as their thoughts turn to Christmas expenses.”
