Local Consumer ‘Flying High’ After Receiving €250 Compensation
Local consumer Rachael Wauchope from Londonderry is ‘flying high’ after receiving €250 compensation, after her complaint was investigated by the Consumer Council.
Rachael was returning from a trip to Cornwall when her connecting flight from Birmingham to Belfast was cancelled. Rachael brought her complaint to the Consumer Council who has been able to achieve €250 compensation after her original claim was rejected by the airline.
Speaking about her experience, passenger Rachael Wauchope explains: “My connecting flight from Birmingham to Belfast was cancelled after visiting my sister in Cornwall for the weekend. After an unsuccessful attempt to claim compensation from the airline I contacted the Consumer Council. I would say to anyone who is experiencing difficulties in dealing with air travel issues, to contact the Consumer Council, as they were extremely helpful and achieved a successful outcome for me.”
Speaking about the Consumer Council’s success at resolving the complaint, Ronan Convery, Senior Consumer Empowerment Officer at the Consumer Council said; “We are so pleased to have been able to help Rachael secure compensation for her cancelled flight. Flight delays and cancellations can and do happen so it is important that passengers know their rights.
“Our advice for consumers is to get in touch with our Consumer Protection Team, who can provide information on passenger rights and help with any unresolved air travel issues, including delayed or cancelled flights (and ferry sailings), unclear fare information and lost or damaged luggage.”
