Donaghadee Probus Group top up their consumer rights knowledge
Consumer Council visit Donaghadee to offer advice on passenger rights, savings on bill and complaints
Donaghadee Probus Group members are prepared for any potential holiday travel issues following a recent visit from The Consumer Council.
With summer just around the corner, many people fly or sail to get away on their holidays. The information session held at Donaghadee Golf Club provided the group with information on their passenger rights including what to do if their flights or sailings are delayed or cancelled.
Speaking about the event, Ronan Convery, Senior Consumer Empowerment Officer for The Consumer Council said “The busy summer travel period is upon us so it is important consumers are aware of their passenger rights when travelling to and from Northern Ireland.”
Reflecting on the information session Bill Hetherington, President of Donaghadee Probus Group, said “Events like today are an important way to ensure all members of the community, including retired people like ourselves, are aware of their consumer rights on topics such as travel. It is reassuring to have these facts before going on holiday to help reduce stress should problems arise. Feedback from members has been extremely positive and we are grateful to Ronan and Helen for coming out to meet us”.
The Consumer Council staff also provided tips for travelling with a disability or reduced mobility, as well as their other services such as saving money on household bills and what to do about problems with goods and services bought.
