The Consumer Council has said it will review the Utility Regulator’s draft determination on NI Water’s proposed spending plans for 2015-21, with consumers’ priorities in mind.

Aodhan O’Donnell, Interim Chief Executive at the Consumer Council said: “To help shape this plan we have been working with the Regulator and speaking directly to individual consumers and businesses since 2012, to establish their priorities when it comes to the future of water and sewerage services.   Consumers and businesses have told us their concerns include: stopping internal flooding; preventing interruptions to supply; ensuring services provide value for money; and identifying and resolving problems in local areas.  So, it’s with those priorities in mind that we will now examine the Regulator’s draft determination in detail.”

The consultation on the Regulator’s draft determination will run until 15 October 2014, with the final determination due in December.  “We will continue to work with consumers and all those involved in the process to get the best deal for individuals and businesses using water and sewerage services,” said Aodhan.
