Consumer Council welcomes Civil Aviation Authority enforcement action
The Consumer Council welcomes today’s announcement from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) that enforcement action taken against three major airlines has resulted in better support and information for passengers during instances of flight disruption.
Speaking about the announcement Scott Kennerley, Head of Transport at the Consumer Council said: “This is welcome news for those passengers who had been directly affected by an airline refusing to pay compensation for delays and cancellations despite previous legal rulings.
“This enforcement action by the CAA has lead to the airlines in question changing their policies. As a result the Consumer Council has been able to assist 23 passengers, who had previously been refused compensation, get back a total of £7,500.”
Scott concluded “If you have been on a flight that was delayed or cancelled and you believe that you are entitled to compensation, submit your claim to the airline, even if you have previously been turned down.”
