Changes to Power NI electricity tariffs for small businesses

in Energy

The Consumer Council would like to make small businesses aware that following Power NI’s price control review by the Utility Regulator, Power NI’s small businesses tariffs will no longer be regulated, as of 1 April 2017.

Richard Williams, Head of Energy at the Consumer Council explains “Up to now the Utility Regulator checked and approved the Power NI small business tariff. With this change, Power NI will now be able to compete directly with the seven other electricity suppliers on cost, so it is more important than ever businesses check they are getting the best deal for their electricity supply and shop around.”

Richard concluded “Power NI has written to all affected customers to make them aware of this change. If any small business has an issue or query regarding their electricity supply, such as bills, deposits or switching, they can contact the Consumer Council on 0800 121 6022 for free and independent advice and support.”
