Consumer Council’s New Energy Price Comparison Site to Save Consumers Money!

The Consumer Council is inviting Balmoral Show-goers to bring along an electricity and gas bill to find out if they could save over £100 by switching supplier.

Visitors to the Show will be the first to try the Consumer Council’s new independent, online energy price comparison site, which is due to go live later this month.

Richard Williams, Head of Energy at the Consumer Council said: “We have been working hard to create an independent price comparison site to help energy consumers here save money. We’ll be delighted to show Balmoral Show visitors how it works if they come and see us at the Sustainability Village between 11 and 13 May. Even better if they bring along a bill for electricity and one for gas, if they use it, as we can give an on the spot calculation as to how much they can save. We’ll also supply a copy of our simple step by step guide to the switching process.

“Switching is easy and consumers are fully protected so there is no interruption to their supply; they will simply start receiving their bill from a different company – there is a choice of six electricity suppliers now in NI. Our research shows consumers would consider switching for a saving of between £76 and £100. Trialling our comparison site has seen savings of much more than that, depending on the supplier and payment method being used, so it’s really worth your while to come and see us and give our price comparison site a go,” said Richard.
