The Consumer Council is 30 years old today!  To mark the occasion the Consumer Council is releasing 30 photographs, 1 per day for 30 days, via social media of 30 people who tell the story of the Consumer Council and the work it has achieved over the last 30 years.  Helping the Consumer Council celebrate are longest & shortest serving staff members’, Chris Stafford who has 29 years service and Jill Cunningham who is on work placement with the Consumer Council.

Consumer Council statement on NI Water Tariff Increase

Responding to today’s tariff review announcement by NI Water,  Graham Smith, Head of Water Policy at the Consumer Council said : “Any increase in prices is unwelcome for non domestic consumers who pay water and sewerage charges.  We have worked hard with NI Water and the Utility Regulator to make sure the increases are justified and we believe they are fair. However, we want to see NI Water continue to make improvements to the water and sewerage infrastructure and to the standards of service customers receive.

Post Office services restored to Castlecaulfield consumers

Following a six week local public consultation with customers and their representatives, consumers in Castlecaulfield can now avail of a Post Office outreach service on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10am-1.30pm in their local ‘Food Store’ (Food Store, 32 Main Street, Castlecaulfield, Dungannon BT70 3NP). Consumer Council responds to Firmus Energy Tariff Review

The Consumer Council welcomes today’s announcement by firmus energy of a 6.38 per cent price reduction for its 48,000 gas customers in the Greater Belfast area. This follows last week’s announcement by SSE Airtricity of a 7.8 per cent price reduction for Belfast gas customers.
