- Launch of Ecoworld on Tuesday 29 April, 2008
29 April 2008The Consumer Council and CCEA are helping young people understand how the consumer choices they make today affect all our lives and environment with Ecoworld - a unique new web-based game launched on Tuesday 20 April 2008. Ecoworld is designed to help young people start good habits early so that making responsible choices about the food we eat, the energy and water we use, how we travel and the waste we create become second nature. World-famous botanist and environmental campaigner, Professor David Bellamy, OBE, Martin McGuinness, Deputy First Minister and star of Ecoworld, Eco himself helped launch the game at W5. The event included Eco’s guided tour of his online home developed by CCEA plus dance and drama from St Louise’s Comprehensive College, Belfast.

29 February 2008Celebrating 20 years of working with young consumers This year’s YCC Final was held in Lisburn on Friday 29 February at the Lagan Valley Island Centre and was hosted by UTV and U105 personality Frank Mitchell.

15 November 2007In the UK, people over 50 spend £175 billion a year, accounting for 45 per cent of total consumer spending. Having easy access to food and goods that contribute to a balanced diet is important for older consumers. Yet many older consumers can experience difficulties or barriers in getting the food they need for a healthy diet. The Consumer Council has undertaken research into the difficulties that older consumers can encounter when shopping for food. This report highlights the difficulties encountered by older consumers when they shop and identifies how these can be improved.
