Schools Poster Competition

This popular competition is now in its sixth year and the number of entrants is growing every year. Almost 10,000 pupils from primary and special schools have taken part over the years.
Budding young artists from all over Northern Ireland took the honours at this year's Consumer Council Schools Poster Competition Awards Ceremony. Maurice Jay from U105's Breakfast Show presented the prizes at the event at Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn on 13 June.

L-R U105 Breakfast Show Host Maurice Jay presented the prizes at this year's competition. He is pictured with Alannah Lunney from St Ninnidh's Primary School, Derrylin, Paul McAtarsmey from Premiere Circus, Belfast and Steve Costello, Chairman of the Consumer Council.
More than 4,000 children from primary and special schools across Northern Ireland submitted posters based on the themes:
- Don’t waste energy,
- Count the ways to get to school,
- How far does my food travel?,
- Don’t waste water,
- What can we make out of rubbish?
- Spend a little, save a little.

'The Big Drip' kept the kids entertained at the 2008 Schools Poster Competition.
