13 May 2010The Consumer Council’s new ‘Informator Rady Konsumentów Porady dla rodziców’ (Money Tips For Parents) publication is designed to help parents equip their children with the skills to budget and manage their money as they grow up. Working with ethnic minority groups the Consumer Council has translated Money Tips for Parents into five languages: Polish, Portuguese, Lithuanian; Chinese and Slovakian.
- The Consumer Council And Ccea Help Home Economics Students To Be Financially Savvy Consumers
23 March 2010The Consumer Council is working with the CCEA to organise three conferences for GCSE Home Economics teachers to help them educate their students on how to be confident, informed and financially savvy consumers. The conferences will prepare teachers for delivering the increased consumer awareness content in the revised Home Economics curriculum. They are taking place on:

15 March 2010Helping children to learn about money has just got easier with the launch of the Consumer Council’s ‘Money Tips for Parents’ guide. It includes tips and information on pocket money, saving and budgeting and how to help children of all ages make good decisions about money. The launch coincides with World Consumer Rights Day, today 15 March 2010.

16 December 2009Julie McCurley, head of money affairs at the Consumer Council said, “The Consumer Council has received assurances from the Payments Council that the cheque clearing system will only be closed down if there is evidence that consumers in Northern Ireland are able and willing to use alternatives to cheques.
