Are you an A - Level Home Economics Teacher?

Are you ready to deliver the revised A - Level Home Economics syllabus?

Do you want to update your knowledge and resources?

The Consumer Council, in partnership with CCEA, is organising three conferences for A - Level Home Economics teachers in March 2009 to help teachers prepare for the consumer issues content of the revised Home Economics curriculum.

Dates and Venues:

Thursday 12 March 09 - Corrs Corner, Newtownabbey

Friday 13 March 09 - Tullylagan Hotel, Cookstown

Monday 16 March 09 - Silver Birch Hotel, Omagh

The conferences will offer thought-provoking insights into changes in consumer behaviour brought about by developments like buying online, tackling the rising cost of living and the need to think globally, act locally.

Workshops and support materials will cover a wide range of topics contained in the revised curriculum, including:

- Positive and negative implications of GM foods
- Local and global strategies for promoting responsible consumerism
- Using credit, beating debt
- Manipulative marketing
- Rise of the e-consumer
- What the label says
- New and existing laws to protect consumers.
