Holidays/Travel

Travel Insurance

If you travel more than twice or three times a year can be cheaper to get an annual policy.
Source: Which?

Don't automatically renew annual travel insurance
If your annual holiday insurance policy is about to expire and you don't have a holiday booked, DON'T renew the policy. You're handing your money over to cover an eventuality that won't happen. You wouldn't have car insurance if you didn't own a car. Simply restart the cover again the next time you book a trip.

Flights

When you're booking a flight make sure to compare the full cost including taxes, airport charges, baggage charges and fees placed upon credit and debit cards. For more money saving tips, download a free copy of Plane Facts, the Consumer Council's essential guide to air travel.

Ferries

Consider taking the ferry if you're bringing a lot of luggage. Be flexible with your travel arrangements - it can be cheaper to book in advance or travel at off peak times. For more information, download your free copy of Plain Sailing, the Consumer Council's essential guide to ferry travel.

Package holidays

If your flights or holiday package cost more than £100 you should book by credit card as this gives you extra protection if something goes wrong. You should also take out travel insurance but be careful and read the small print.
