A delay caused us to miss our connecting flight and lose a day's holiday

A party of four encountered a delay with their airline when flying from Belfast to London. As a result, they missed their connecting flight and lost a day of their holiday. They contacted the airline to seek compensation, however they were advised that no compensation was payable as the cause of the delay was extraordinary.

Action

We contacted the airline on behalf of the passengers to request information on the cause of the delay.

Resolution

  • Upon further investigation, it was identified that the delay was, in fact, caused by a technical issue with the aircraft.
  • Therefore, compensation was payable.
  • The party received €600 each, totalling €2,400.
