Extra help from NIE Networks and NI Water
The Consumer Council encourages consumers to register their details if they need additional support.
It’s that time of year again, when the weather may start to become disruptive, which can affect your electricity and water supply. For this reason The Consumer Council is advising consumers who may be of pensionable age, have a disability, chronically sick or rely on electricity and water for their day to day care, to consider registering onto NIE Networks and NI Water care registers.
Sinead Dynan, Director of Regulated Industries, at The Consumer Council said, “We would encourage consumers who have additional needs to contact NIE Networks and NI Water. Being on the register means that your details will be prioritised and you will receive up to date information by phone during the event of an un-planned or scheduled interruption to your electricity or water supply. Providing your details will inform the suppliers and ensure that essential services are being delivered”.
Sinead added, “Consumers can also avail of the care register offered by electricity and gas suppliers. These registers provide a range of free services such as bills in larger print, Braille and password schemes to identify supplier representatives”.
If you are a consumer who would benefit from the additional free services and would like more information, please contact The Consumer Council on 0800 121 6022 or visit www.consumercouncil.org.uk
