The event takes place at the Park Avenue Hotel and will cover good and bad practice, how to handle complaints effectively and consumer law.

• Farepak – An Unfair Deal For Savers

  Last Christmas was effectively cancelled for 1,200 local people who lost nearly £500,000 when Farepak went bust. The Consumer Council today launched its report into the crisis and called for the introduction of new legislation to protect savers’ money.

• Water Report Can Deliver A Fair Deal For All Consumers

  The Consumer Council today gave its full support to the Independent Water Review Panel’s first report saying it is the best, most practical starting point for getting the right deal for all consumers, particularly those on low incomes. The report confirms that consumers do already pay for water and recommends that they should not pay any more until April 2009 when the proposed average household bill would be two thirds less than expected at around £120, instead of £334.
