Business Advertisements (Disclosure) Order 1977

This Order requires that anyone who is a trader should make it clear in advertisements that the goods referred to are being sold in the course of a business. Where it is not clear from the format of the advertisement itself some additional information is required to make this clear to consumers (e.g. Classified adverts sometimes include the expression "Trade" or "T" or "private" to allow you to distinguish), otherwise they might assume that the advertiser is a private individual and therefore believe their legal rights are restricted.

A trader who fails to comply with this Order commits an offence.
