Consumer Transactions (Restriction on Statements) Order 1976
This Order prohibits the display of notices in shops or advertisements which are an attempt to restrict your rights under the Sale of Goods Act. A criminal offence is committed if a shopkeeper displays a sign stating (or includes on an invoice/receipt) e.g. 'No refunds on sale goods 'or' Sold as seen and inspected'.
The Order also covers guarantees, which must contain a statement to say that your statutory rights are not affected by the guarantee.
